The Ronald Koeman era at Barcelona started with a resounding win as the Catalans beat Villarreal at Camp Nou to start their La Liga campaign on a positive note.

Four goals in the first half; two from Fati, one from Messi and an own goal from Pau Torres were enough to get Barca the win they deserve.

Barca had to wait until the fifteenth minute to find an opener through Ansu Fati after Jordi Alba squared the ball for him in the box. He would then score his second four minutes later after receiving a good pass from Coutinho.

Fati again provided Barca’s third goal after he was brought down in the box and Messi converted the spot kick. An own goal from Torres gave Barca their fourth goal.

The second half was a quiet one from Barca as Villarreal tried to get a goal but the Catalans held on to keep a clean sheet.
