Chelsea started the game well and were determined to keep hold of possession. Werner opened the scoring with his first goal for the club to hand Frank Lampard’s men the lead in a more dominant first half from Chelsea.
But Lampard’s men wouldn’t continue in that same tempo in the second half as Tottenham threatened in the second half and eventually found an equalizer late on through Lamela.
The game went to penalty shootout and it was Mount who failed to convert.
Chelsea opened the scoring in the 19th minute after Azpilicueta’s cross fell back for Werner on the edge of the box to shoot past Lloris.
Chelsea failed to maintain their first half form and were wasteful in front of goal. This was punished by Tottenham when Lamela found an equalizer in the 83rd minute.
The game was decided by a penalty shootout and it was Mount who failed to score as Mourinho’s men progress.
