When Lionel Messi hit out at the Barcelona board for preventing him from leaving and then selling his friend Luis Suarez, many supporters were with the feeling that the Argentine will stop giving his best or stop playing wholeheartedly for the club.
Messi in an interview with Sport has now discarded those feelings by confirming his commitment to the club despite the hard times he has been going through.
The 6-time Ballon d’Or winner said he knows that many people would have liked to see him stay quiet but he had to say his mind because he was hurt.
Messi in the interview said: “Those that know me know I’m not capable of playing any other way than to win and to give everything on the pitch.
“It’s been that way throughout my whole career and won’t change now. My commitment to the shirt and the badge is 100 percent, it is still intact.
“I wanted to send a message to all the socios and fans that follow us. If at any moment, any of them were annoyed by something that I said or did, let there be no doubts that anything I did was always with the club’s best interests in mind.”
