Barcelona and Ronald Koeman are yet to find a way to stop conceding goals. The absence of Ronald Araujo through injury hasn’t helped matters as well.
Araujo got himself injured while trying to clear the ball in the 3-2 win against Real Betis on the 7th of this month. Since then, Barca have failed to keep a clean sheet and have conceded 10 goals without the Uruguayan.
With some tight fixtures ahead that could determine their chances of winning a trophy this season, Barca need Araujo as soon as possible.
Koeman has confirmed, in the press conference ahead of the game against Elche, that the defender won’t be available for the fixture because he hasn’t been training with the team. He then mentioned that next week will determine his availability for the upcoming games.
When asked about Araujo, Koeman said, ‘He’s getting better. He’s not going to be here with us tomorrow. He hasn’t trained with us yet. He’s training by himself right now with a physiotherapist, but first he has to train with the group to see if he’s 100 percent fit or not.
‘But right now there are some doubts, so we have to wait. We’ll wait for the weekend, maybe next Wednesday. I don’t think it’s good to give an exact date. Everything depends on if he’s getting better from his injury.’
